Portal (PC)

"Portal was everything I was hoping for and more. The mechanics required an entirely new way of thinking that we as gamers had never been exposed to which was eye-opening, and on top of that who would have thought it would have some amazing characters"

World of Warcraft (PC-MAC)

"There's a good reason this game has 11 million subscribers, it's a great MMO and getting better all the time."

Characters:

Hakune, Level 70 Tauren Shaman —

Kryssi, Level 72 Tauren Hunter —

Kuija, Level 80 Tauren Death Knight —

Malidor, Level 70 Night Elf Rogue —

Marista, Level 63 Human Mage —

Rashir, Level 70 Tauren Warrior —

Thelyna, Level 70 Blood Elf Warlock —

Titsa, Level 71 Blood Elf Rogue —

Titsi, Level 70 Human Paladin —

Weab, Level 80 Tauren Druid —

Xesy, Level 70 Undead Priest —

Diablo II (PC)

"The first game I ever became truly obsessed with. I actually own two copies of both D2 and its expansion, just so I could have friends come over and play with me on battle.net while visiting."

Diablo (PC)

"I remember buying this when I was in Seattle visiting my grandparents, and couldn't wait to get home to play it. Had been looking forward to it for a long time. Would have been more fun without the duping."

StarCraft (PC)

"I've never been very good at RTS games, but I've still got a special place in my heart for Starcraft. I used to play it every weekend with a couple friends for months, and this was long after it had come out."

Company of Heroes (PC)

"An incredible RTS. This game makes me really wish I was any good at the genre, because if I was I'd play this one all the time. Incredible detail, clever interactions and tactics, and of course everyone's favorite setting: WWII."

Marathon Trilogy ()

"The Marathon games were basically my introduction to the FPS. Great games for their time, they made me a Bungie fan long before Halo was even a twinkle in their eyes."

Counterstrike (PC)

"Counterstrike may be my longest running goto game. That is, although it might not have the most hours, it was on my actively playing list for many years. For a competitive team shooter, can't really beat this classic."

Team Fortress 2 (PC)

"A beautiful reimagination of TFC. Although significantly different in many respects, it manages to keep the spirit of each of the classes intact while nearly entirely redefining the gameplay."

Warcraft II (PC-MAC)

"A worthy sequel to the original Warcraft, which was my first RTS. To this day I can still hum much of the soundtrack from memory, this game ate up a lot of my time."

WarCraft III: Reign of Chaos (PC-MAC)

"I was way late to the party with WC3, and I can't really explain why. Great campaign, enjoyable multiplayer, and all kinds of crazy maps like DOTA--though to be fair, I never really was much of a DOTA fan."

Half-Life (PC)

"Ah, the original Half-Life. A classic, completely raised the bar for the genre in its day."

Half-Life 2 (PC)

"Raised the bar yet again for the FPS genre at its release. The physics were something we hadn't really seen much of yet, which made the gravity gun immensely enjoyable."

Fallout (PC)

"Black Isle's best work, in my humble opinion. I don't think any RPG has ever quite matched Fallout for being able to draw me into the world and overwhelming me with choices. If I had to pick a favoite game of all time, it would be Fallout."

Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords (DS)

"A surprisingly addictive marriage of a Puzzle game with RPG elements. I obsessed over this game for a couple weeks after getting my DS."

Grand Theft Auto III (PS2)

"GTA3 took the series in a completely new direction. For most, the franchise begins here. The switch to 3d was a pretty impressive feat, one Rockstar accomplished quite well."

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (PS2)

"GTA:SA was a pretty significant iteration in the GTA series. The game area was massive, there were jets, helicopters and even a jetpack. You also get to stuff your face with pizza and work out in the gym. My friend and I call this GTA "Sim-N***", sin"

Unreal Tournament (PC)

"I was always fond of Unreal, and I'd say Unreal Tournament was pretty much Quake 3 Arena done right."

Fallout 2 (PC)

"While a bit more silly than the original Fallout, its sequel had some notable improvements and more importantly was another dose of that morally grey goodness."

Audiosurf: Ride Your Music (PC)

"If you've got $10 to spare and you like music, log onto Steam and buy this. Playing on tracks dynamically generated by your music? Just plain awesome."

Grim Fandango (PC)

"An incredible adventure game that's humorous and has a great story. Highly recommended."

Neverwinter Nights II (PC)

"Have to say, this is a pretty impressive RPG. I especially like that it allows coop play, too few games these days have that option."

Bioshock (PC)

"I wasn't terribly impressed with this game the first time I started playing it, but when I bought it a few months down the line and got back into it I found that it's got a very enjoyable storyline."

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (PC)

"I've only played the single player campaign, but it was a lot of fun. I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoys shooters."

Titan Quest (PC)

"A fun Diablo II clone, I especially like that you can basically pick two classes to advance in. Not a whole lot of replay value though, as the areas are not randomized like with Diablo."

Baldur's Gate (PC)

"Classic RPG from Black Isle, which means that it is without a doubt, exceptional."

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (PS2)

"GTA:VC was where Rockstar really decided they could start telling stories. I'm afraid I missed the boat when GTA came out, but I must say it holds up pretty well even now."

Day of Defeat (PC)

"Never really got too into this game, but it's certainly a lot of fun."

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (PC)

"WAY overhyped as an RPG. At best this is a marginally amusing adventure game with a couple RPG elements."

Everquest (PC)

"Although I haven't played it in 4+ years, it will always have a special place in my heart since it was what introduced me to the MMORPG genre. It has since fallen way out of favor, but I can't deny that it was King of its time."

Characters:

Weab, Level 65 — Xegony server, retired

Everquest II (PC)

"A pretty decent MMO with some good ideas. Graphics suck. I got to about level 42 before I stopped playing, and to this day I couldn't really tell you why I stopped. I didn't really get bored, I just... Stopped."

Hellgate: London (PC)

"I was incredibly disappointed with HG:L. Bland repetitive environments, uninteresting character classes, and an unacceptable number of bugs upon release. I guess being a developer from Blizzard doesn't qualify you to run a gaming business."

Supreme Commander (PC)

"I wouldn't give this more than a lukewarm thumbs up. It's pretty and has some good ideas, but the races are nearly clones of one another and I don't find the gameplay to be all that engaging."

Quake 3 Arena (PC)

"I was largely disappointed in this purchase. I felt UT was the better of the two."

EVE: Online (PC-MAC)

"It really makes me sad that this game sucks. I really want to like it, but I can't. Way too many reasons to get into here, the short version is it's just no fun."

Spore (PC-MAC)

"An impressive game in a lot of ways, but equally disappointing. This is much less a toy than most of Will Wright's games, and to be perfectly honest he's not that good at making conventional games. I still enjoyed it though."

Doom 3 (PC)

"Awful game. Too dark to see anything at all, overuses monster closets, entirely dull environments, and just plain boring. I don't know why I bothered finishing it, but I did and the boss sucked too."

Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning (PC)

"An uninspired WoW clone. Boring PvE, boring PvP, public quests are entire overrated -- I only lasted two days. Also, the outspoken dev Mark Jacobs is a huge gaping asshole."

Sim City (ATST)

"Always a welcome diversion. Building a vibrant metropolis is relaxing and strangely captivating."

Team Fortress Classic

"I was a huge fan of TFC back in the day, and it has the title of being the first multiplayer game I really got into. I was a beast as an Engineer, can't beat a primed EMP grenade to the face."

Diablo III (PC)

"Liked Diablo and Diablo II, seems reasonable that I'll probably like Diablo III."

StarCraft 2 (PC-MAC)

"Looks like a faithful sequel to the original Starcraft, and I can't really find any fault with that."
